The n-hexane extract of the dried leaf of this species yielded three compounds, consists of two phenolics and one amide. Their structures were elucidated spectroscopically as 5,6-dehydrokawain, aniba dimer A and auranamide. The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the fresh leaf was an alyzed by capillary GC and GC/MS.
