ETHICAL DILEMMA IN NURSING 2 Ethical Dilemma in Nursing An ethical dilemma is a scenario that requires a decision between two moral imperatives that are neither arguably preferable nor acceptable. The paradox results from incidental disagreement in which respecting results in infringing another (Anderson & Anderson, 2016). Ethical dilemma in nursing is a common occurrence and choice between watching patients suffer, and obeying nursing ethos always has nurses questioning what the right decision is in such scenarios. The documentary "The Invisible Patients" presents the experiences of a nurse who encounters an ethical dilemma, and its analysis compared to real-life experiences validate their significance to nursing practice, and also allows individual scrutiny with relevance to the field. Jessica cares for home-limited patients as a nurse practitioner in the documentary. She faces several ethical dilemmas. For instance, Jessica is responsible for an elderly couple who suffer from arthritis. Wink and Patty, the couple, are on narcotic prescriptions to manage the pain. They usually undergo a routine urine drug screening. During the screening, the physician finds that Patty's urine lacks narcotic indications, though she has a regular refill of the medications, and the clarity lacks on whether she follows her prescription.
