I want to also add that those that come to this country legally and attempt to gain citizenship should be allowed to do so. Should applications from certain countries be given priority? (Feltey, 2006, p. 11) No, I do not believe that applications from certain countries should be given priority. It should be that the application just be based on the reasons why a person wants to become a United States citizen and nothing else. If an applicant is seeking political asylum then that should be looked at but they should have to go through the same channels as everyone else....
