Moseley: Properties of elements are periodic functions of their atomic number (protons) Periods/Rows – Horizontal Groups/Columns/Families – Identical chemical properties, Vertical Periodic Trends Atomic Radii: One half of the intermolecular distance between adjacent atoms in a solid phase Down a group – Increases (Increasing quantum levels) Across a row – decreases (electrons are being pulled closer to the nucleus) (except a noble gas) Ionic Radii: Size of the radius as an ion Pos.
