The out-migration of younger people accounts for this Recomposition takes place when older people move into an area that younger people leave An increase in migration occurs again at the end of life due to declines in health The first type of move, at retirement, Longino(1992) calls amenity migration Longino(1990,p.52) says that people who make their first move after retirement look for “places of natural beauty and more pleasant climates” Research shows that destination characteristics tend to determine the place people choose, more than nearness or distance from the preretirement home
