Chapter 12 Template Chapter 12 Assignment Template Name ___________________________________________________ I believe that Abbott isn’t being very practical when it comes to the workload and the number of workers  he wants to maintain. The right that I think he did was to setup a program where 55 and over will be  eligible for the early program. Due to the age discrimination laws, I think it was wrong for him to mention  I believe that it was sensible of him to look for people with most potential rather than just to concentrate  excluded any other individuals. I would like to see a chart that shows peoples races as well as how long they have worked there so as to  not violate any equal rights.  I would like to see a realistic job preview to ascertain whether or not these  Pharmaceuticals have? 1 5. How would you have handled  this  situation? What would you have done differently? Provide a  chronology of steps. Would you use an outplacement service? This is how I would’ve handled this situation: I would notify employees of possibilities of them staying  or taking a position from someone who has seniority over them. This would help raise productivity  since there would be competition for jobs. It would also put a “bounce” in some of the employee’s  steps, that have become complacent in their jobs.   I may offer retraining as long as it was in-line with  organizational goals.  Yes, I would most definitely use an outplacement service because it isn’t  personal, its business, and if I needed them back they may just come back in the future knowing that  if a similar situation happens that we have their back.  3. Must the company adhere to the WARN Act? How do they meet  this  obligation? I don’t think the company should adhere to the WARN act, because this plant iis not closing down, it is  simply cleaning house and down-sizing.  They would meet this obligation by giving the employees  affected by the down-sizing up to 60 day notice so that they can get their affair in order.  This is a
