MEC709 Fall 2007 Control Systems Course Outline Instructor Siyuan He 1 Ryerson University Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering COURSE OUTLINE MEC709 CONTROL SYSTEMS Prerequisite: EES512 Compulsory Text: Automatic Control Systems Benjamin C. Kuo & Farid Golnaraghi Publisher: Course Objectives: This course is intended as an introduction to control systems engineering. Mechanical, electrical and electromechanical systems will be modeled and analyzed. Assessment of the time domain, transient and steady state response of first, second and higher order systems will be conducted. Classical control design techniques including PID (Proportional/Integral/Derivative) control will be discussed. System performance analysis, design and compensation using methods such as Routh Hurwitz Stability Criterion, Root Locus Plots and Bode Diagrams will be studied. Steady State Analysis will be briefly introduced. Course Organization:
