Course Description: Course Number: INME 4012 Course Title: Machine Component Design II 3. Purpose: Teach students steps involved in the design of machine components along with safety and reliability considerations. 4. Course Goals: Identify and specify a machine component (e.g., gears, clutches and brakes, belts and chains, springs, bearings, as well as fasteners) to be designed. Appropriately apply design relations. Conform to existing codes and standards. 5. Requirements: Students are required to do homework assignments and pass exams. 6. Laboratory/Field Work: Laboratory work involves computer access. Students are expected to be able to develop some basic computer algorithms. If you do not have access to a PC, then obtain immediately an account in room L-132. 7. Instructional Strategy:
