BA450 Managerial Economics: Module 1 1.  A comparison of marginal costs and marginal benefits has been utilized for three  recent decisions involving the purchase of a television, eating breakfast, and acquiring a  new home phone service. First, for the television the marginal benefits include  increased entertainment for the family at home instead of the movie theater, however,  the marginal costs means diverting resources allocated for a new washing  machine. Next, was the decision to eat breakfast on the road which provided a benefit  for saving consumption time and there were no dishes to clean at the house. The costs  for this decision resulted allocating time to obtain the meal and money for the  food. Finally, there was the decision to obtain home phone service with the  MagicJack. The marginal benefits include unlimited national calling, portable use to any  place with an internet connection, and low annual cost. The marginal costs are the  expense of maintaining an internet connection at home and having a computer running  at all times to run the MagicJack application.
