TECHNOLOGY OF THE FUTURE 2 Technology of the Future The digital video recorder or better known as the DVR has revolutionized how we watch television. There are many companies that have their own versions of the device but they are all in essence the same technology. They are all a hard-drive based system designed to record television shows. TiVo has claimed to be the first to come out with the DVR device in 1997. The DVR is a hard drive in the form of a video component box that is connected to the television via RCA connections. The signal comes into the DVR though a built-in tuner by antenna, cable or satellite, dependent on the service you have.(Digital Trends, 2004) The DVR is the evolution of the VCR. Technological experts came to advance this device by combining the likes of the computer and the VCR. The VCR was a device that could record live television on removble storage but could only hold a small amount of video. The DVR, on the other hand,
