Business to Business advertising Marketing communication sent from one business to another Includes messages directed at companies distributing products as well as industrial purchasers and professionals such as lawyers and physicians Not directed at general consumers Most is done through professional publications or journals o The FedEx- targeted to businesses 5. I nstitutional advertising Corporate advertising These messages focus on establishing a corporate identity or winning the public over to the organization’s point of view o Many tobacco companies are running ads that focus on the positive things that they are doing o Ads for America’s pharmaceutical companies showcasing leukemia treatment are also adopting that focus o BPs ads trying to minimize the oil spill 6. Nonprofit advertising Charities, foundations, associations, hospitals, orchestras, museums, and religious institutions use non-profit advertising for customers (hospitals), members (the Sierra Club), and volunteers (Red Cross), as well as for donations and other forms of program participation o Truth campaign for the American Legacy Foundation 7. Public Service advertising (PSAs) Communicates a message on behalf of a good cause o stopping drunk driving (MADD) or preventing child abuse Advertising professionals usually create these advertisements (PSAs) free of charge and the media is often donated 8. Other forms of advertising Retail advertising – the message announces facts about products that are available in local stores o Objectives focus on stimulating store traffic and creating a distinctive image for the retailer Local advertising – can refer to a retailer, such as TJ Maxx, or a manufacturer or distributor who offers products in a fairly restricted geographic area Di rect-response advertising – can use any advertising medium, including direct mail, but the message is different from that of national and retail advertising in that it t ries to stimulate a sale directly – consumer can respond by phone, mail, or over the internet and the product is delivered directly to the consumer Guerilla, social media, viral….. 9.
