Sapanaben Shah November 28, 2010 Chem 106LB Precipitating at Central Park Lab #10 Observations 0.05M lead nitrate: clear, colorless soultion 0.025M sodium carbonate: forms bubbles, clear, and colorless 0.1M nickel nitrate hexahydrate: forms bubbles, greenish, clear 0.1M potassium phosphate dibasic: forms bubbles, clear, and colorless 0.25M potassium iodide 0.1M silver nitrate: clear, colorless, and forms bubbles Reaction 1 -25mL lead nitrate & 1.4mL sodium carbonate and when we added lead nitrate and sodium nitrate, the mixed solution turned cloudy. Then for the second test we added 30 drops of Nickel Nitrate and no precipitate was formed and there was no color change in the solution. Excess test for lead ion- positive, white precipitate was formed Excess test for carbonate ion- negative, no green precipitate was formed Reaction 2 -25mL lead nitrate & 1.4mL potassium iodide and for the first test we added 30 drops of Potassium Phosphate, we observed that white precipitate was formed. Then for the second test we added 30 drops of Silver Nitrate, we observed that a pale yellow/ whitish
