November 3, 2009 The Value of Values The article “Executives Are Wrong to Devalue Values” in the business periodical, Businessweek .com, is about how more and more businesses are failing to recognize the importance of values when selecting managers and employees . A survey done by McKinsey & Co, a management consulting service, was released on the topic of most important organizational abilities . . polled 763 executives and recorded their responses . Two of these abilities were overwhelmingly popular over any other ability . These two were leadership and direction . They defined leadership as the capability to shape and inspire the actions of others . Direction was defined as the capacity of articulate where the company is heading and how to get there .
