There are many things that need to be done to help turn The Broadway Café back into a striving business it once was. One thing is to perform the Porter’s Five Forces analysis to observe the company from every angle. The five forces are as followed: entry of competitors, threat of substitutes, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, and rivalry among the existing players. The Broadway Café is in a market where it is very easy for other competitors to enter. Anyone can start up a café or a bakery to compete with The Broadway Café. The next force is threat of substitutes. Coffee and tea cannot be substituted for other things. Many people love coffee and how it wakes them up each morning. Drinking another caffeinated beverage just isn’t the same. Therefore, there is a low threat of substitutes in the coffee market. The force, bargaining power of buyers, is strong. There are many buyers in the market to sell to. There is a lot of differentiation between the products too. The power of suppliers is very strong.
