Options for Growth 2 Options for Growth Growth is the ultimate goal of organizations. Without growth, success cannot be achieved. Growth benefits organizations in that it; funds new projects, increases market share and consumer awareness, attracts bright new minds, enhances the ability to develop new ideas and ultimately leads to financial success. Growth in an organization can occur naturally, but most often is created. Several ways exist that organization can foster growth and three popular options include taking the organization public, acquisitions, and mergers. This paper will examine all three options using Berry’s Bug Blasters, a virtual organization, and analyze the strengths and weaknesses or each approach as well as the opportunities and threats that each option may present. Initial Public Offerings IPO’s are not necessarily the best way for any business to go. As with any other option IPO’s have strengths and weaknesses that need to be determined prior to becoming one. An IPO occurs when a company issues common stock or shares information with the public. In the case of Berry’s Bug Blasters, this may not be the best way for them to expand. Sometimes sharing financial information can hurt more than help the organization. With both the positive and negative aspects in mind there can be certain benefits of becoming an IPO. These benefits include enabling cheaper access to capital funds, exposure and the ability to attract good employees and investors. Creating multiple finance opportunities is also a large benefit of becoming an IPO. These benefits open up several opportunities for some companies and because Berry’s wants to expand, looking into these benefits could prove to be useful. Even with the benefits however, an IPO can be a risky investment. Stocks can be very unpredictable especially on their initial day of trading. In addition, when a company is going through growth stages there

Options for Growth 3 will be uncertainty regarding their future value. Many varied strengths and weaknesses of an IPO exist. Companies may want to look into other opportunities like merging with another company or acquisitions before going for the IPO. Acquisitions
