It is important to investigate the boiling point of liquids and melting point of  solids. Melting points and boiling points are physical constants, which means  specific compounds have specific melting and boiling points. Therefore, you can  identify a substance if you determine the melting point and boiling point. Also,  you measure the purity of a mixture using melting point tests. Learning how to  accomplish these tasks at a small-scale level is imperative in our future chemistry  learning. Procedure: I began the experiment by acquiring all necessary materials that I needed to  provide (Spoon, rubber bands, rubbing alcohol, paper), and then sifting through  my ChemKit to find the provided materials. I will begin by crushing the acetamide  crystals into a fine powder. Next I will make a test tube assembly and place about  1 ml of rubbing alcohol in a test tube, using a small rubber band I will attach a  thermometer to the outside of the test tube. I will then insert an inverted closed  end capillary tube into the test tube. After assembly is complete I will make a  water bath by filling a beaker with 50ml of water. Place the test tube assembly in  the water bath so that the surface level of the alcohol in the test tube is beneath  the surface level of the water bath. I will then set up a burner stand and place the
