The ship I was commanding was a Post Panamax vessel. This is the first meeting I had during the lab. The container ship entered the channel and I played a little Texas Chicken. I rounded the container ship but did not account for the positive pressure, which pushed me towards the shore. I was able to correct and made a safe exit. CAMPBELL

This is the second meeting, which occurred after I exited the narrow channel. I was pushed very close to the shore, but was able to correct with the help of a little bank cushion. I easily cleared the Ro Ro, but would come dangerously close to the island.

Unformatted text preview: CAMPBELL After clearing the Ro Ro and the island I came upon the VLCC. By this point in time I was far enough from the VLCC that he posed no threat to my vessel and I easily cleared it. CAMPBELL After clearing the VLCC I continued on the track line. I keep my vessel to the port side of the track line as to keep a little space between the upcoming vessels and myself. I passed the LNG carrier with no problem and continued on the track line. CAMPBELL The final meeting of the lab occurred with the push barge. Because I had been steering to the port side of the track line I had no problem clearing the Push Barge. I continued on the track line towards my berthing space....
