The Sixties have been called "Days of Rage" why? In what ways were the Sixties days of rebellion? How do you explain the sixties? What caused the cultural change? 3 Main Ideas 1) America’s occupation in Vietnam 2) Civil Rights i.e. Black Power Movement and Student Rights 3) Cold War and threat of nuclear annihilation 1) Vast amounts of human and natural resources where increased repeatedly and no results occurred. American public repeated lied to by LBJ. Press gave optimistic views. Government funds were all going to war. Nothing money was going domestically, just overseas. Drafting was at all time high and there seemed to be no real reason was explained, vs. WWII. 2) a) Legislation for civil rights was being past yet no enforcement took place, i.e. Black churches were being burned and no one got in trouble for it. Blacks went to register to vote and picket lines prevented them to do so. Hartman Turnbow was first black to try and register, later attacked and lynched. The two main black
