Week 13: Compare and Contrast the Presidencies of George H. Bush and Bill Clinton Bush - Ronald Reagan’s Vice President - From the same party, so had some of the same views as his predecessor - Presided over the unchallenged rise of America to military supremacy in the world; however, inherited an economy wasted away under deficits and industrial inertia - One of the least inspired campaigns in recent history; about media manipulation than political dialogue - Had a wealth of foreign policy experience as CIA director, ambassador to China - People agreed that he was sure-handed and effective in handling his goals (oversaw the continued disintegration of the Soviet Bloc); supported Gorbechev and oversaw many achievements in arms reductionsand controls; however Bush failed to see the ascendancy of Yeltsin and missed an attempt to make him an ally - Operation Desert Storm, a success; population reaches an all time high, 91% - Somewhat hampered by his involvement in the Reagan administration; brought up questions about his candor and integrity
