ECE 341 Homework #5 Due: May. 19. ‘10 Problem 1: A three-phase four-pole winding is installed in 24 slots on a stator. There are 30 turns of wire in each slot of the windings. All coils in each phase are connected in series, and the three phases are connected in wye connection. The flux per pole in the machine is 0.060 Wb, and the speed of rotation of the magnetic field is 3600 r/min. (a) What is the frequency of the voltage produced in this winding? (2 pts.) (b) What are the resulting phase and terminal voltages of this stator? (2 pts.) Problem 2 : As shown in Fig. 1, a 480 V (line-line, rms), 230.4 kVA rated synchronous generator is connected to the 60 Hz, 480 V (line-line, rms) power grid with a local load. The machine is a 4 pole machine. The field current vs. phase induced voltage is shown in Fig. 2. Taking the rated values of the machine as base values, the rated 3 phase load power is 0.5+j0.4 p.u.
