His work has survived only in secondhand writings. Most of what we know about Democritus was written by Aristotle. Democritus was taught by Leucippus. Democritus expanded many of Leucippuss ideas. After years of traveling he returned to Abdera and stayed with his brother. He started to give public lectures in Abdera. He became famous for his knowledge of natural phenomena, and his ability to predict changes in the weather. Contributions: Democritus contributed many things to a wide variety of fields. He believed that if you just kept cutting something in half, you would get to a particle that could not be divided. He named that particle an atom....
