LaKisha Green March 27, 2020 Soc-220-0501 Dr. Cruz Social Inequality Social inequality is a problem that we see all across the globe today. There are different levels that keep this problem growing and continuing. Many different individual and institutional discrimination influences this. There has been lots of proposed solutions to all types of social inequality. Some of these have shown to work on some degree, and some have not. Social inequality can perpetuate social problems on micro and macro levels. Micro level is when we are talking about an individual and their immediate surrounding. Macro level is when we are talking about a whole in our country. (Sullivan, 2016) Perpetuating drug abuse with social inequality on a micro level can happen by making a person feel as though they are not worthy of anything better. When people feel as though they cannot do any better because of social inequality they will continue to fall back in the same path as before. When they believe that they are no better than the others around them they may also act as if that is what they need to do, so they do not try to be better. Drug use will start and continue because of social inequality within their own community.
