Then answer the following questions; your response should be a total of 300-350 well-chosen words. 1. What do you think went wrong? 2. What would you do in this case if you were one of the trainers? 3. Regarding the epilogue, assume the trainers have now been briefed on the research. Who should do what - if anything - to address the Muslim managers after this cultural mishap? Support your answer. I think what went wrong was them trying to use the same technique in the predominately Muslim country as those in the United States. In Muslim societies women and men are expected to behave in line with social, cultural or religious codes gender roles. These are created to distinguish between what is considered to be ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’ gender. In practice gender roles often affect women adversely impeding their self determination in areas like their socio-economic status, status within the family, health, life expectation, independence, freedom and rights gender bias. If I was one of the trainers I would have gone out after the Muslim employees. I would have tried to find out what exactly was going on with the employees. It might have been that talking about the sexual harassment in the open was too much for them and angered them. Regarding the epilogue the managers need to have a training session on cultural differences. The training should be specific to the country that the employees will be working in. In this case the managers need to train in the Muslim culture and religious practices. What works in one country will not work in another especially a country that is predominately Muslim. Muslims do not view some of the practices that are custom in the US as sexual harassment and vice versa....
