Scott Raubenstine Millersville University Topic: Seatbelts Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to continue wearing or to start wearing their seatbelts while driving Thesis Statement: Seatbelts are the most vital part in saving a person’s life while driving. They have been around since the cars were first made and make an impact on saving lives. Introduction I. This is where I give my personal story about how a seatbelt saved my friend’s life last summer. II. Today I will talk about how seatbelts came about, the current situation in today’s society, and some statistics that should change your mind about wearing seatbelts. Body I. What is a Seatbelt? A. According to Wikipedia, a seatbelt is a safety harness designed to secure occupants of a vehicle against harmful movements such as a collision or a harmful stop. B. There are many types of seatbelts but the most common type is the three- point seatbelt which is the standard seatbelt in all cars.
