Scott Raubenstine Topic: The BCS going to the playoff system Specific Purpose: To convince the audience that the NCAA’s BCS system should be changed to a playoff system to determine the national champions. Thesis Statement: College football fans must be convinced that the NCAA’s BCS system should be changed to a playoff system because the voting is incorrect and because the best team isn’t always named the champion. ATTENTION I. What would it feel like if you went undefeated and was not named the best team in the nation while a one loss team gets the national title? II. Many division 1-A football teams have felt this way and strongly dislike the current BCS system. Besides this there are many other problems with the current system. III. This is why today I will be talking about the current problems and how the NCAA should change the BCS system. NEED Problem I. Before 1998, the NCAA had no real way to determine a national champion.
