From China it spread into Korea and from Korea into Japan Variety of ways people categorize Buddhism - By geographical location - S/SE Asia: Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Thailand - East Asia: China, Korea, Japan Other ways to categorize - Theravada (“Elder’s Teachings”) – oldest form of Buddhism. They believe they have the teachings exactly as it came out of Buddha - Mahayana (“Great Vehicle”) – believe they have the more encompassing version of Buddha’s teachings. China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and VIetnam -
