2 For the purpose of this paper, I will attempt to explain how and why my life evolved over the years. The effect of Erik Erikson`s Theory of Psychosocial Development on my life, and also the relativity of life scripts, life stories and personality. All of these major factors contributed, and sculpted the person I have become thus far. I am not a person who has lived this long without any true purpose or meaning to my life. Presently, I am in Ericson`s eighth stage of development, the Integrity versus Despair phase (McAdams, 2006, p. 347). According to Ericson, I should be reminiscing about my life with happiness and contentment. I use the word should because my life threw me so many curve balls; it knocked me out of the game.
