The exam questions will be drawn from this study guide; though the actual questions will probably integrate across the study guide questions. 3—What are the four (five?) cortical lobes? Give a brief description of the major functions residing in those lobes. 4—Identify several of the sulci and gyri of the brain; gyri: precentral postcentral cingulate, superior middle inferior frontal (orbital, frontal pole), superior middle inferior temporal, supramarginal angular; calcarine; sulci: central, Sylvian-fissure, precentral postcentral . ALSO, FROM LECTURES ON ATTENTION AND MEMORY. Identify the major areas in the brain for attention networks; for the declarative/non-declarative/working memory. For example, these might include, but are not limited to, frontal eye fields, superior colliculus, medial temporal lobe, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, Broca’s areas…. . 1—Name and describe the three main magnetic fields of the MRI. What effect does each field have on water atoms / molecules? 2—Briefly describe the “T1 relaxation time” and “T2 relaxation time”.
