CLONING Cloning has the potential to save many lives. Cloning can help both humans and the environment. Cloning is accomplished by removing the nucleus of a mature, unfertilized egg and replacing it with a specialized cell from an adult organism. This procedure can save the lives of many who are waiting for an organ transplant, by reducing their wait time. Cloning can also help the environment by reducing the need to use chemicals and pesticides. Consequently, Cloning and its technology are necessary because they will help animals, the environment and humans. Animals can benefit from the development of cloning technologies. During the past 500 years more than 800 species have gone extinct, many of these species are lost forever (Randall 2000 / 19 October, 2004). Cloning can be used to reproduce extinct animals from their DNA. Cloning can also be used to increase the number of endangered species, decreasing their chance of extinction. This ability to reproduce extinct or endangered species will help the environment and animals. When an animal becomes extinct or endangered it affects the food chain they where in.
