Like Thomson, Marquis's approach does not turn crucially on what a “person” is (as we will see shortly. Abortion is wrong because it instantiates a moral principle of why killing in general is wrong. - A sufficient condition for the wrongness of killing - If one deprives another of a “future like ours,” then that killing is wrong. This holds regardless of what is being killed.
