Haven cannot tender any reservation it chooses to by virtue of its sovereignty. All other states have to consent to it. The four systems in the international arena The international court of justice and the world court Arbitration – more narrow, sometimes they are ad-hoc, sometimes they are permanent, they usually specialize in certain areas Adjudication – state goes with its problem to a well established court The international court of justice (ICJ) AKA The World Court Its in the hague Predecessor was a part of the league of nations The un charter says that any state that is a member of the un is a party to the statute fo the icj The structure of icj – 15 judges elected for a 9 year term The judges are elected from a slate of candidates as proposed to he un general assembly and the un security council by the permanent court of arbitration The judges are elected by the general assembly and the un security council Any question that stents from any interpretation of international law
