What is Helping? Definition of helping: A special relationship between someone who needs help and someone who has been trained to provide assistance. Text: one person assisting another in exploring feelings, gaining insight, and making positive changes in her or his life. What is key feature in this definition? Assistance Nature of relationship is collaborative. Client and helper work together Helper facilitates, but doesn’t make changes or decisions for client Client decides when and how to change
