What are the seven hero archetypes? Explain the purpose of one in detail. The seven hero archetypes are hero, mentor, herald, threshold guardian, shapeshifter, shadow, and trickster. A hero is the main character of the story, called upon to sacrifice himself in some way by leaving the regular world to embark on a quest. 4. What are the twelve parts of the heroic journey? Explain the significance of one of them in detail. The twelve parts of the heroic journey are the ordinary world, the call to adventure, the refusal of the call, the meeting with the mentor, the crossing the threshold, the tests and enemies, the approach to the inmost cave, the ordeal, the reward, the road back, the resurrection, and the return with the elixir. In the ordinary world, this is the hero’s home, and where his journey will begin and end.
