The three steps of business planning are strategic planning, functional planning, and operational planning. These three levels are demonstrated in the case scenario of Qode. The first step of business planning is strategic planning. This step involves the overseeing of a company by top level management. Strategic planning defines the company’s mission, examining the internal and external environment, setting objectives, and developing growth strategies. Basically, strategic planning is directing the company on a certain path to accomplish set goals. Qode demonstrated this by developing a plan based on its previous experience in marketing and technology to strive toward making marketing interactive and instantaneous to a target market. The company recognized its ability to move from document based content to mobile based marketing, set a goal, and developed a plan to meet it.
