Key Objectives for Chapter 5 1. Know the definitions of the following key words: Heuristics (pg. 48):rules for solving problems, based on experience we create rules or  guidelines that enable us to make future decision with less thought Divergent thinking (pg. 51):allowing thinking to diverge or spread out the search for ideas  goes in all directions Convergent thinking (pg. 51):focus ideas in a single direction, it is logical and critical Elaboration and synthesis (pg. 50):category for judging the execution of the creative  product 2. Be able to discuss Lewin’s three-step process of change and why it’s relevant to PR  practitioners (pg. 48). Unfreeze Behavior: abandon the mindset that causes them to do things in the  same way Change: a new way of thinking or behaving begins Refreeze Behavior: the new behaviors become habitual and resistant to change Public Relations practitioners are counselors to the leaders of organizations; they  sense an important change in the environment and must inform management
