CONFUCIANISM Confucianism is a Western term. Term coined by Jesuit missionaries to China in 16 th c . In China, Confucianism = ru tradition. Ru = self-cultivation of moral virtue. Dominant tradition in education and politics in East Asia until early 20 th c. Confucianism is undergoing a current revival.
