Recently arrived – adequate schooling Recently arrived, limited/no schooling Long term Comfort level of the student/Personality In terms of the areas of language: reading, writing, speaking, listening – what are the students strengths? Weaknesses? Multiple intelligences? Are we looking for a strategy to support/scaffold or to challenge? Do we have materials in the students L1? If so, can they read them?
