Organize tools and papers. Notice that I taped the papers to the desk.

Working on the topography : Going out to one of the 1000’ contours. Note on right how I have been marking along the 1000’ reference for the horizontal locations of the elevations. Note also how I doubled the distance with the divider

Showing the elevations of the contours . This 20’ is doubled from the scale on the map. Here I measure up the 20’ for the 1020’ contour crossing. Note the 1040’ is 40’ up from the 1000’ line

Unformatted text preview: Completed topographic cross-section . Just draw the topographic profile freehand accounting for hills and valleys between the same elevation contours. Working on geologic contacts . Note the vertical ticks along the base 1000’ line at right and the doubled distance. “F.A.” on my profile means fold axis. Note also that I erased the elevations now that the profile is done. Ticks for contacts and fold axes (F.A.) for geologic cross-section . Now you are ready to do the apparent dips, plot the layers, and draw the structure! Good luck!...
