Lotfi Limouni MEM 230 Extra Credit IV Presenter: Frank Leone Topic: Progressive damage in aircraft structures Frank’s research consists of testing 48’’ x 24’’ aircraft panels. These panels are manufactured using different composite materials. Frank conducts experiments to test the progressive strain on such materials. In order to analyze these thin faced sheets. Frank uses the photogammetry method to analyze the different stress levels in structure deformation while a black and white panel helps visualize the CP5 damage progression. Photogammetry uses two 4AMP cameras to take snapshots at each load step and tracks a series of points in them. And calculate stain in those elements and get a full strain of data. A smaller scale 10”x.5’’ sheets are subjected to internal pressurization and hoop load of up to 13.psi and 1000 lb/in respectively. Chris Swin Topic: Penetration Study of Aluminum and Composite Materials Chris’s project focuses on obtaining characterization curves for fatigue data within
