Bonnie McAvoy 01/24/08 Comm. 250: Research Methods Continuity Project Chapter One What I think I know about gender/sex and communication: Males tend to be direct and straightforward. They are problem solvers and give advice. They focus on facts and details to offer a solution. Sometimes men show affection by their actions, not really talking about them. Women tend to be indirect and instead of being problem solvers, they tend to express understanding/compassion for the other person. Women tend to deal with problems by talking about them, sharing their feelings and relating their experience with others who have gone through similar situations. They often show affection through talking about it. How I formed these beliefs: Most of them I learned about first in my male/female communications class.
