Ward Kimball 2 Among Disney’s “Nine Old Men,” Ward Kimball was one of the greatest characters of them all. His unique, mischievous personality not only shined through his animated characters, but also through the pranks he pulled at the studio. Ward Kimball was the most versatile, excelling at many things besides animation. Some of these included collecting trains, music, leading a children’s band (while attending Art School), After high school, he attended Santa Barbara School of the Arts on a scholarship. At the theater where he led his children’s band, they would often watch cartoons and this is where his fate began. One of the cartoons Kimball thought was fascinating happened to be none other but The Three Little Pigs (1933), one of Disney’s Silly Symphonies. Soon after he submitted his portfolio to Disney and was hired on the spot due to his impatience and story of not being able to buy gas to return home until he found out if he was hired. Kimball is known for his distinctive frantic style of animation, and everyone can see his sense of humor through his famous creations of Jiminy Crickett, Cheshire Cat, , and the Crows in “Dumbo” (1941).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
