Conjunctive Group Polarization –own individual attitude becomes more extreme when you become embedded in a group of similarly minded individuals changes are made towards the attitude of other individuals of a group Entering freshman at bennington college had differing political opinions but bennington is a liberal school so by the end of senior year the group was much more liberal as a whole -normative social influence - people with more extreme leanings are liked more so you shift attitude to fit in -informative social influence - in a group you are exposed to information and reasoning which may convince you or influence your attitude to make it more extreme ** can influence behavior so that in a group one might do things that one wouldn’t normally be willing to do (non normative behavior) as a result of being caught up in a group with more extreme attitudes than the individual
