EE 110, Fall 2010, Homework #3, Due October 21, 2010 Problem 1: (a) A current source, i (t) = 120cos(1000t) mA, is connected across a parallel combi- nation of a 50 Ohm resistor, a 10μF capacitor, and 200mH inductor. Find the steady state currents through the resistor, i R (t), the capacitor, i C (t), and the inductor, i L (t). Graphically show the pha- sors, I , I R , I C , I L , and V (the phasor of the voltage across the combination) by plotting vectors on a complex plane. (b) Repeat the problem with an inductor value of 100mH. (10 + 5 = 15 points) Problem 2 (PSPICE): Refer to Figure 1 for this problem. a. Use PSPICE to determine the Thevenin’s equivalent of this circuit looking from nodes a and b. Use L = 2mH. b. Determine the Thevenin’s equivalent of this circuit assuming that the transformer is ideal and has a 1:2 turns ratio. c.
