EE 110, Fall 2010, Homework #6, Due November 24, 2010 Problem 1: Consider the circuit in Figure 1. (a) Find the transfer function, H(s) = Vo(s)/I in (s). (b) Plot magnitude and phase response Bode plots. (c) Find the maximum gain defined as H max = |H(j ω )| max . (d) What kind of a filter is this? (e) Determine its bandwidth and cut-off frequency (or frequencies). (5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 25 points) Problem 2: (a) Design a first order high pass filter with a high-frequency gain of 20 dB and a cut-off frequency of 10 MHz. The input and output should be voltage signals. You are free to use resistors, capacitors, inductors, and ideal transformers but nothing else. (b) Use PSpice to verify your design (i.e. perform AC analysis to plot the magnitude and phase response of your circuit). Hint: Please do consider use ideal transformers in your circuit and remember it is first order cir- cuit ONLY. (5 + 10 = 15 points) Problem 3: Consider the 2-port network shown in Figure 1. This is an approxi- mate, simplified model of a transistor which is of central importance to modern circuit design.
