Introduction It is the interest of the organization to create a retail pet specialty store. The store will require a Store Manager (SM), an Operations Manager (OPS), a Presentation Manager (PM), a Pet Care Manager (PCM) and a Pet Products Manager (PPM). The goal of the store would not just be in the interest of monetary interest, but also in the education of the community in animal care and interest. Increased interest in animal welfare groups will be present in the building and in the minds of the associates. To compensate for the increased prices, and to compete with larger pet specialty groups such as PetSmart, Petco, Petland, and PetSupermarket, the focus will be placed on repeat customers and increased customer service. The store must maintain a first name basis with it's customer group. The Team Acting in the Store Manager (SM) position is Terry Crew. He comes with four years retail management experience, specializing in animal care. His experience with the product, with the consumer, and with a similar team will enable him to guide the team to success. Should any of the other managers, clients, or associates have questions, he will provide an excellent source for answers (or finding answers). His results in Session Nine show him to be a "harmonizer". This is critical in all aspects of store management, but especially important in the role of Store Manager. The Store Manager must maintain roles with their team and the given community. Should adoption groups become involved, the Store Manager will act as a hero of the store, acting in it's best interest. Terry will also act as a strong brand ambassador. His familiarity with the product will

allow him to provide ample reasons for specialized use. For example, a customer's questioning of what is the best type of dog food may appear simple. But looking at the fifteen varieties of holistic/organic dog food available, the similarities may merge. Terry's experience in other pet retail stores will also assist him in choosing the proper merchandise for the store. Some companies offer extra assistance and representatives to advance their dog foods. Terry's networking with these different groups will be especially beneficial to the store. For example, the Nutro Pet Food Company offers representatives to individual stores on weekends, to help promote their food. While they are advancing their own, private, food - the representative also offers increased customer service and valuable insight into their food. David Hill will be acting in the position of Operations Manager.
