Computer Applications I 1. Areas where they may find inefficiencies are in the joints, screw holes, using stepladders. Roughly 5-10% of all material can account for inefficiencies in waste in installing the drywall. These areas can be improved in multiple and simple ways. You can minimize the waste by using larger sizes in length of the drywall, which can also reduce time in installation of the specific wall. For example, if you have a 10 ft ceiling, rather than using the standard 8 ft length sheet rock then having to take another sheet and cut it down to 2 ft to finish the remaining 10ft, you can simply install 10 ft length sheet rock vertically from floor to ceiling. Not only does this increase productivity in installing the drywall, but also increasing productivity in taping the joints. Another way in increasing efficiency and productivity is in using stilts rather than stepladders. Stepladders are a thing of the past in drywall taping. With stilts the worker has the freedom to walk around reaching high places with ease,
