Unformatted text preview: EE 2200 / Spring 2009: Assignment Two 1 ECE 2200 / Spring 2009 SINUSOIDS ASSIGNMENT TWO 1 1. Consider Euler’s formula e jθ = cos( θ ) + j sin( θ ) (a) Write and test a Matlab script that plots the unit circle ( r = 1 and θ ∈ [- π, π )) using Euler’s formula. Label the x-axis and the y-axis and give your plot a title. The x and y axes should be the real part and imaginary parts of the points plotted on the unit circle, respectively. (b) For the points on the unit circle plot the real parts of the points (on the y-axis) versus their phases (on the x-axis). What familiar function is this? Explain. (c) Plot the imaginary parts of the points on the unit circle (on the y-axis) versus their phases (on the x-axis). What familiar functin is this? Explain. (d) Using the subplot command, stack the two previous plots one above the other in the same figure, but not on the same pair of axes. As the periods of theses signals should match, is one a time-shifted version of the other? If so, by howsignals should match, is one a time-shifted version of the other?...
