BLOOD DISORDERS 2 Blood Disorders o Lily, a 6-year-old Caucasian female, has been complaining of being tired all the time. She is pale and a picky eater. Her mother is a single mom with a small budget to feed a large family. Amy only eats pasta, breads, and hot dogs, and drinks only artificial fruit punch. I believe that Lily is suffering from anemia. I also believe the type of anemia she is suffering from is Iron deficiency anemia. Lily’s symptoms that indicate this are that she is tired all of the time and is pale; these are common symptoms of anemia. The reason why I think that it is Iron deficiency anemia is due to her diet, she is not eating any red meat or meat such as chicken or seafood. The only type of meat she is eating is pork. Anemia is a condition that can develop if a person does not have enough healthy red blood cells. Healthy red blood cells are what transports oxygen to the organs in our body. When a person does not have enough they can become pale and fatigued. Another reason that a person’s body may not receive enough oxygen is if the blood cells become deficient in
