ASSESSMENT PRACTICES Assessment Practices Part 1: Assessment Table Math Math Standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.A.1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem (Common Core Standards, 2019). Grade Level: Second Grade Learning Objective: Student will be able to use addition and subtraction to solve word problems. Example of formative assessment that aligns with content standard: Give students worksheets that consist of word problems. Solve some problem as whole group, then proceed with solving problems in pairs, then lastly have them independently complete the worksheets. Monitor, provide feedback, and clarify when needed. Pre-assessment questions that assess students’ prior knowledge: Ask students how word problems are deconstructed? Ask students what is each word problem asking for them to do? Formative assessment questions that assess students’ progress: Ask students the necessary steps in order to solve word problems efficiently and quickly.
