Fall, 2010 GEOLOGY 303 LECTURE FINAL EXAM, AND FINAL COURSE GRADE Studying for the exam The lecture final exam in GEO 303 will contain 80 machine-graded questions, and you will be permitted 3 hours in which to complete it. There will be an intensive coverage of course material since Quiz 2, and a general coverage of the material that was the subject of Quizzes 1 and 2. On a per-lecture basis, material given since Quiz 2 will be weighted about 3 times as heavily compared to material covered in the first two quizzes. That is, material of the final 8 lectures of the course will account for approximate- ly 60% of the final exam. We ask that you be responsible for all the lectures, and textbook chapters 1-3, 5, 7, 9, 11-13, 15, 16, and 20-25, inclusive. Please bring a #2 pencil to the exam. Heavy emphasis in the final exam will be given to contents of these 8 lectures: Dr. Long: Depositional systems (1 lecture, the second of the series of two) Dr. Ketcham: Geology of the ocean floor (1 lecture) Continental drift, plate tectonics (2 lectures) Glaciers, climate, Ice Ages (2 lectures) Geology of oil and gas (1 lecture) Earth resources, humanity’s future from geologist’s point of view (1 lecture)
